- ➤ A new halal Cajun chicken chain opened last week inside the Shell gas station at 3003 11th St. in south Rockford — a partnership with Big Bite that offers varied menu choices — and owner Mo plans to open another location soon. Rock River Current

- ➤ Rock Valley College’s Starlight Theatre marks 60 years with four musicals and special events: StarBright Program’s production of The Addams Family (Aug 5-9), a 1776 concert on July 2, and Stars of Starlight (Aug 14). Volunteer auditions run Feb 26-Mar 1 and Mar 5-7. WIFR
- ➤ On Saturday, Jan. 10, stateline residents visited The Pottery Lounge at 312 N. Alpine Rd. Suite 104 to adopt a painted clay penguin for $20 – all materials were provided. Attendees chose acrylic paint for immediate take home or glaze for later pickup. WIFR
