- ➤ The 45th Rockford Home Show runs Feb. 27 — March 1 at the Indoor Sports Center on 8800 E. Riverside Blvd with more than 200 vendors and free family entertainment such as caricatures, interactive bubbles, and wildlife presentations; admission is $7 for adults and free for children under 12. - ➤ Genoa-Kingston High School will hold a History Rocks! assembly tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. while the teachers union calls for delaying the start to 3:30 p.m. (to secure safe dismissal and transportation for students). WIFR
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Illinois confirmed five State Champion trees today through the Legacy Tree Program. The Natural Land Institute honored five trees — Black Maple, Northern Red Oak, Kentucky Coffeetree, Paper Birch and Rock Elm — at sites including Moody Road, Roscoe and Dahlquist Park, recognizing their strong survival traits. - ➤ Rockford tenants are asking local leaders and their landlord for more help finding new housing after Windsor Apartments was condemned on Jan. 20 for lack of heat following a broken boiler. An 85-year-old tenant now runs a GoFundMe to cover moving expenses and security deposits for over 50 displaced residents. WIFR
