- ➤ The YMCA of Rock River Valley will unveil its new 4,000-sq-ft fitness center expansion at the Northeast Y in Loves Park on Feb. 12. The $800,000 project doubles the space and adds advanced equipment including the EGYM Smart Circuit with planned extended hours for overnight access. Rockford Register Star

- ➤ Local chef Scott Carlson and partners from Baker Street Burgers open The Raven during Restaurant Week, serving baked breads, woodfire pizzas, curated wines, and a variety of plates at 6867 Spring Creek Road. The restaurant will operate Thursday to Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m. WIFR

- ➤ At Cherry Valley Elementary on Monday, teachers learned strategies to support students facing poverty by taking part in simulation exercises to recognize signs of hunger and fatigue (a reflection of Rockford’s higher poverty rates). WIFR

- ➤ Winnebago County urges residents to follow the Eat S.M.A.R.T. plan for a healthier diet to lower heart and cancer risks by signing up by Feb. 13. Weekly email tips will be provided as the campaign runs until April 10. Rockford Register Star
- ➤ Illinois Department of Public Health adopted the 2026 AAP child and adolescent immunization schedule today to provide clear science-based guidance amid recent federal changes.
