- ➤ RVC alumnus Keanu Concepcion was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 today after overcoming early setbacks in film, gaming, and esports; he plans to soon launch a startup in aviation maintenance while staying connected to gaming. Rockford Register Star
- ➤ The Board Room, a tabletop games shop offering Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, & Warhammer, has moved from Oregon to Mt. Morris to bring more gaming options to the local community; it is located at 103 S. Wesley Avenue and is open Wednesday through Sunday with varying hours. WIFR
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The America the Beautiful art exhibit honored top artists for paintings and photography during an opening reception held on Feb. 13 at the Coliseum Museum — the event displays winners through March 21 and invites visitors to vote for the People’s Choice award. Rockford Register Star
- ➤ The Quad Con Comic & Toy Show will take place at CherryVale Mall in Rockford over the weekend of Feb. 28 and March 1. More than 70 artists and vendors will offer pop culture items during normal mall hours, and a Saturday cosplay showcase starts at 1:30 p.m. WIFR

- ➤ Over the weekend, the Rockford Education Association approved a tentative contract with the local school district. The board of education will vote on Wednesday night to finalize the new agreement for teachers and students. WIFR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State Senator Dave Syverson is co-sponsoring Senate Bill 3619—introduced by Senator Chris Balkema—that proposes a tax credit for small businesses offering health reimbursement arrangements; the bill, backed by the Small Business Advocacy Council, is now with the Senate Revenue Committee as lawmakers explore ways to ease benefit costs for employers.
