- ➤ Today, the Discovery Center Museum hosts Ag All Around Us from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—experts from the Winnebago and Boone County Farm Bureaus lead hands-on activities including petting farm animals, exploring the AgZibit exhibit with real farm equipment, making corn husk dolls and learning to milk cows and gather eggs to show how agriculture shapes the community. - ➤ Cadet Captain Ruthie Wriedt from the Rockford Composite Squadron earned her CAP pilot wings at a ceremony in late 2024 and became certified to fly missions such as disaster relief and search and rescue. She joined the Civil Air Patrol at 16, earned her civilian pilot license at 17, studies aviation maintenance at Rock Valley College, and plans to fly as a bush pilot after graduation (she is the first cadet to earn CAP flight wings under Lt. - ➤ A 37-year-old man was shot multiple times in the 200 block of Sawyer Road just before 6 a.m. on March 21 and was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries — police are investigating the incident. WIFR
- ➤ The Winnebago County bomb squad responded at 6:34 p.m. to the Roscoe Police Department at 10595 Main Street when a man walked in with a hand grenade he had found while cleaning a vacant property—police later deconstructed the device and closed Main Street while advising neighbors to stay inside. - ➤ Today, visitors can explore 'The Secret Life of Butterflies' exhibit at Nicholas Conservatory at 1354 N. 2nd Street, where staff perform daily pupa care and guests see caterpillars, emerging butterflies, and moths — advanced ticket purchase is recommended as space often sells out. WIFR

- ➤ The Prairie Hill Road bridge over the Rock River will be closed from March 31 to April 4 for borings in preparation for a future bridge replacement, and drivers should use the detour route provided—weather conditions may cause delays. Winnebago County
