  • No Kings will host nonviolent rallies on March 28 in Rockford and Freeport. In Rockford, the event runs from 1-3 p.m. at the City Market Pavillion (Water and State Street) with speakers, music and a one-mile march, while Freeport’s rally takes place from 11 a.m. to noon at Freeport High School.  Rockford Register Star
  • Former Madison police chief David Couper spoke on community policing on March 25 at the Nordlof Center and will address today's audience from 10 a.m. to noon at the J.R. Sullivan Theater (118 N. Main St.) in Rockford.  Rockford Register Star

  • Local organizations and students can join America 250 celebrations by applying for a grant by March 31 for community events and entering an art & essay competition with a May 1 deadline that will award cash prizes and display winning works.  Go Rockford

  • Keith Country Day School's quiz bowl team won the IHSA Class 1A Scholastic Bowl state competition today at Heartland Community College in Normal — the team included students from four grade levels competing in a statewide contest that marked a significant milestone for the only nationally ranked independent college-prep school in the region.  Rockford Register Star

  • Spring is in the air as three peregrine falcon eggs were spotted on the Sinnissippi Audubon Society nest cam on the 8th floor of the historic news tower in Rockford, with eggs appearing on Mar. 20, Mar. 22, and Mar. 24 — letting bird watchers track the falcons' nesting progress.  WIFR
