- ➤ Rockford Fire Department responded at 9:18 a.m. on March 30th to a fire at a multi-unit apartment building at 602 S. New Towne Drive and rescued a woman who was taken to OSF Hospital in serious condition—fire officials said the blaze was kept to one unit, a family of four had to leave their home, and $40,000 in damages were reported. - ➤ On Sunday, firefighters battled two apartment fires in Rockford that displaced more than a dozen people and caused about $140,000 in damages—one woman was rescued in serious condition from an apartment on South New Towne Road while a man was safely rescued from an 11-unit complex on Meriday Lane after faulty wiring sparked the blaze. - ➤ Rockford firefighters responded to a call for an apartment fire on Sunday at 3113 Meriday Lane around 12:56 p.m. and rescued one resident from the third floor while nine of the eleven occupied units were displaced—investigators determined faulty electrical wiring caused the fire with damage totaling $100,000 and no injuries were reported.
