  • The Love Us Foundation hosted a shoe drive to collect donated footwear for families facing rising costs and will continue accepting donations as community support grows.  WIFR
  • The Rockford community gathered yesterday at Nordlof Theater to reflect on Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy with live readings and focused discussions on unity. Organizer Tommy Meeks said he hopes the event becomes an annual tradition to inspire togetherness.  WIFR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Harlem Unit School District 122 enrolled 6,045 students during the 2024-25 school year & ranked 46th statewide, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.  Rockford Sun
  • In the 2024-25 school year, data from the Illinois State Board of Education showed Rockford School District 205 enrolled 999 Asian students (1.5% fewer than the previous year) out of 28,162 total students. Rockford East High School had the highest count among the district's 40 schools.  Rockford Sun
