- ➤ Families can join a series of Easter egg hunts in Rockford and nearby areas this April. The Alpine Hills Adventure Park event begins today at 12:30 p.m.—other hunts are set for April 12th, 19th, and 20th at local parks, churches, and community centers. WTVO
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Rockford Fire responded around 6 p.m. to a blaze that started outside a house at 1400 North Avenue and spread to the basement but was contained within 20 minutes with no injuries while the cause remains under investigation. WTVO
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, April 5, Rockford University hosted a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament in the Coronado Theatre lobby at 6:15 p.m. with friendlies (casual matches) available for attendees, and the Rockford Symphony Orchestra played video game music at 7:30 p.m. during RSO at the Arcade while the tournament resumed during intermission if no winner had been declared. - ➤ A local youth choir contest is open until April 25 for junior high and high school choirs with 25 kids or less to submit videos singing any Foreigner song via 96.7 The Eagle’s app—voting will run from April 29 to May 9 and the winner, who will perform 'I Want to Know What Love Is' at the Coronado Theatre and receive $500 support, will be announced on May 12. - ➤ Hundreds gathered downtown Rockford yesterday in a 'Hands Off' protest against federal policies such as tariffs and immigration restrictions. Protest organizers said rallies will continue every two weeks — with the next scheduled for April 19 at 1 p.m. and another on May 3. WIFR
