- ➤ Severson Dells Nature Center will change its name to Wild Roots Nature Center on July 1 to reflect growing programs at its Montague Road and soon-to-be Prairie’s Edge sites — the center will continue offering science-based nature education. Rockford Register Star

- ➤ Rural on Tap hosted an adult Easter egg hunt in Rockford where guests searched for hidden eggs and competed for prizes. Organizers said the event offered a fresh, competitive twist on the holiday celebration. WIFR
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kinnikinnick Community Consolidated School District 131 enrolled 37 Black students for the 2024-25 school year (a 5.7% increase from last year) among 1,668 total students, with Roscoe Middle School recording the highest count at 13 in Winnebago County. Rockford Sun
- ➤ Hononegah Community High School District 207 enrolled 1,782 students in 2024-25, ranking 221st statewide compared to 219th last year. The enrollment comes amid a steady statewide decline since 2017-18. Rockford Sun
