- ➤ Rockford firefighters rescued a dog from a burning apartment on Halsted Road Saturday evening — the fire was contained to one apartment — and left two adults and two children displaced while the Red Cross assists them. WTVO
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Rockford police investigated a shooting on Saturday morning, April 12th, where a man’s hand was injured on the 1300 block of N. Winnebago — additional property was damaged by gunfire and the investigation continues with no arrests reported. WTVO

- ➤ Saturday evening, the New Milford and Blackhawk Fire Protection District pinned local veteran Matt Niezgodzki as its new fire chief following former chief Jonathan Trail’s move, and he vowed to lead his team with fairness and teamwork—he also introduced red helmets to mark promotions. - ➤ The USDA issued a nationwide public health alert that warns consumers some soup and bowl products might be contaminated with wood after cilantro in these items was recalled.
