EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Rockford Public Schools board approved raises for nearly 500 non-bargaining employees during Tuesday night’s meeting, aiming to retain staff. Union leaders raised concerns over contract priorities + the disparity between administrative and teaching pay. WIFR
- ➤ Rock Valley College chose history teacher Dan Blumlo as Faculty of the Year after receiving (120 student nominations) and he will deliver the commencement address on May 16; he has taught at the college since 2010. Rockford Register Star

- ➤ Roscoe village officials announced storm cleanup procedures after an EF-1 tornado. Residents must follow temporary parking restrictions during garbage pickup and organize debris into designated piles (yard waste, large materials) for proper collection. WIFR
- ➤ A community announcement said that starting May 1, up to 150,000 SNAP users must meet an 80-hour monthly work requirement or lose benefits after three months. Gov.
