- ➤ Bucciferro Family McDonald’s held its groundbreaking on Monday, May 4 at 9 a.m. at 3844 W. Riverside Blvd—city and company officials celebrated the milestone and said the restaurant will open by the end of July. WIFR
- ➤ Speedway Auto Mall sold its 13-acre property for $4,375,000 to Kunes Auto Group in mid-April and is relocating to a smaller village location. - ➤ Rockford-based collector Fidencio Saucedo has transformed his basement into The Galactic Bunker to showcase his 31-year Star Wars memorabilia collection featuring recreated film scenes and 4,000 to 5,000 figurines (including a rare Hasbro set) that took several weekends to arrange. WIFR

- ➤ Rockford-area gas prices jumped over 60 cents in the last week to about $4.85 a gallon, per AAA & GasBuddy. Prices statewide remain nearly 60 cents above the national average amid refinery issues in Indiana. WIFR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On May 4, stop signs were installed at Springfield Ave and Safford Rd in Rockford and at Illinois 75 and Rock City Rd in Rock City to convert intersections into four-way stops with flashing beacons, stop ahead signs, and pavement markings.
