- ➤ On Sunday, May 24, people from across Winnebago gathered at North Burritt Union Cemetery to honor fallen soldiers. The service included a roll-call of about 120 names, a Presentation of Color, a reading of the Gettysburg Address & a playing of Taps. WIFR
- ➤ On Sunday, May 24, Lutheran Church of Good Shepherd held its final worship at 1829 N. Rockton Ave after 79 years of service. The church donated its building to the YMCA of Rock River Valley (with a $3.7 million investment) to host new Table of Grace services. WIFR

- ➤ PA Peterson at the Citadel, a for-profit nursing home in Winnebago County — owned by five stakeholders since June 30, 2017 — received a CMS rating of 2 for Q1 2026 as it served an average of 124 residents daily. It also paid a fine of $21,212. Rockford Sun
