- ➤ Rockford will host the 2025 South Main Mercado on Sunday, June 8th from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.—presented by Hard Rock Casino Rockford at 917 S. Main Street. The event will feature Latino-led vendors with food trucks and merchandise booths, live music and dance performances from the Nicor Community Initiative Stage, a family fun zone with games and crafts, and fast 3v3 futsal games by the International Soccer League of Rockford. - ➤ A 29-year-old man died from his injuries after causing a crash at the N. Alpine and Guilford Road intersection early Wednesday morning around 12:55 a.m.—the lanes were closed until responders reopened the road at 7:52 a.m. WTVO
- ➤ The BBB warns that scammers are posting offers for vehicle wraps on cars, trucks, and boats and then sending fake cashier’s checks that leave victims on the hook for thousands—residents are urged to verify job offers and use secure payment methods. - ➤ Rockford residents paid about $54.6 million in sales taxes in 2024— the eighth highest total among local municipalities. They collected $50.8 million the previous year, showing a rise in revenue largely from the municipal sales tax that supports public services. Rockford Sun
