- ➤ Flower Fest took place on Saturday and brought residents and visitors to Rockford’s North End to support local shops and a volunteer-led flower project at Veterans Memorial Circle. The event celebrated nearly 17,000 planted flowers that honor veterans and community efforts. WIFR
- ➤ On Sunday, May 31, adaptive bike experts fitted residents with special needs with bikes at the Audrey Cismesia Special Needs Bike Expo held at Harlem High School in Machesney Park. Organized by Amanda and Jeff Cismesia in memory of their daughter, the event offered sensory-friendly activities and vendor resources. WIFR

- ➤ On May 31, a goat from P&C Little Rascals petting zoo joined painters at The Pottery Lounge — 312 N. Alpine Rd — where residents painted ceramics with farm animal themes. WIFR
- ➤ Freedom 250 Museum, a traveling exhibit—celebrating America's 250th anniversary—offers interactive displays where visitors can sign a digital copy of the Declaration and test their citizenship knowledge. It will be at Veterans Memorial Hall from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Tuesday, June 2. WIFR

- ➤ Illinois Department of Children and Family Services reported that as of Jan. 20, six group day care homes in Rockford received refused-renewal licenses, representing 3.1% of all providers, and each was permitted to serve up to 38 children—state data confirms the figures. Rockford Sun
