- ➤ Alpine Kiwanis canceled its annual Brat Days fundraiser after a flash flood damaged Rockford sites last Thursday. The organization sold cases of Johnsonville brats at Blain’s Farm + Fleet on Friday, and they sold out in less than two hours. WTVO

- ➤ NickelWorld reopened July 18th as QuarterWorld at 3321 N. Main St.—ending nearly 30 years of charging a nickel for games. Owner Kim Hachmeister said admission is now $2.50 with games costing 25 cents each while the arcade still offers free classic games for family fun. Rock River Current

- ➤ Rockford police arrested Aaron Owen on July 15 around 11 p.m. after officers pulled over his silver Volkswagen near Killburn Avenue and Auburn Street and found a fully loaded 3D-printed gun along with an open container of alcohol — he is charged with possessing a firearm without a valid FOID card. - ➤ Dushawn C. Stallworth, a 24-year-old man, was sentenced to 65 years in prison for first-degree murder after fatally shooting 21-year-old David Austin at Auburn Manor in Rockford on October 29, and he will serve three years of mandatory supervised release after his sentence. WIFR

- ➤ Children at Good Shepherd YMCA are thrilled by a new Bookworm Vending Machine donated by the Junior League of Rockford as part of its Literacy Leaders Project — which helps boost reading levels in local kids.
