- ➤ Today, The Olympic Tavern holds its final Pints for Pups event from 5-8 p.m. where dog owners can bring their pets to the patio, enjoy a doggy menu, and get free digital photos by Tim Speer. For every Tito’s drink, $1 is donated and Tito’s adds $6,000 in support of Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary—donations are encouraged. WIFR
- ➤ Free meals for veterans began on Sept. 25 at Ross Pearson VFW Post 5149 & were served every weekday at 4 p.m. after the Veterans Drop-In Center closed unexpectedly. Rockford Register Star

- ➤ A barn fire broke out in rural Rockford Saturday morning, and firefighters from ten departments contained the blaze at 2465 Centerville Road — near Montague Road and the US 20 bypass — with no injuries reported. WTVO
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Midway Village Museum will host its 29th annual World War II Days event this weekend with 1,100 costume re-enactors and dozens of authentic military vehicles—visitors can watch mock battles with pyrotechnics and learn about the era. The event highlights the museum's collection of memorabilia and serves as an engaging history lesson for all attendees. WTVO

- ➤ Illinois Department of Revenue has announced a tax amnesty program that allows individuals and businesses to pay their full tax bills penalty free between October 1—November 17; the program covers taxes due from periods ending after June 30, 2018 and before July 1, 2024. Rockford Register Star
