- ➤ Volunteers have been working in Santa’s Workshop at 310 S. Winnebago St.—a hub for holiday preparations—to create and repair decorations for Stroll on State, which will take place on Nov. 29 and is expected to draw tens of thousands of visitors. - ➤ On October 23, community members gathered at Crusader Community Health for the annual Shining the Light on Domestic Violence ceremony to honor survivors and advocates working on prevention, awareness, and support. - ➤ The Rockford Family Peace Center has released a new children's activity book titled Doodles of Hope to help kids affected by domestic violence understand safety and that love should not hurt. - ➤ Anderson Japanese Garden is hosting its fifth annual (Path of Pumpkins) event where twelve local schools will display between 8 and 15 creatively carved pumpkins each, with one new school joining this year. - ➤ Rockford hosted the Midwest Aerospace Conference on Thursday at Embassy Suites as over 200 aerospace manufacturers, including Boeing, gathered to discuss growth and the need for fuel-efficient aircraft. - ➤ City leaders in Rochelle are finalizing an agreement with LFF Industrial for a potential data center that would use up to 50 MW, create 10-15 jobs, and generate $800,000 in annual tax revenue.
