- ➤ Rockford residents learned that the old Memorial Hospital on the west side will soon be turned into a community hub when its sale is finalized by the end of November — the Unity in the Community Development Center, led by Pastor Melvin Brown, will run the project. A town hall meeting showed locals sharing ideas and concerns about the facility’s future — city leaders have also expressed worries over its cost. WTVO

- ➤ Kaney Aerospace acquired Michigan-based BGT Aerospace, which was founded in 2017. CEO Jeffrey Kaney said the move will expand the company's footprint into aerospace defense and medical markets + make aviation safer, smarter and more efficient. WIFR

- ➤ The Illinois State Board of Education reported that 88.4% of Winnebago County teachers held their positions year-over-year, with 2,759 full-time staff teaching 43,057 students at a 16-to-1 ratio—average salaries were $68,945 and some administrator roles remain vacant for future hires. - ➤ At the Discovery Center Museum, 50-100 Rockford residents watched pumpkins fly from a trebuchet on Sunday — the pumpkins were then used to feed farm animals. Organizers said the event provided hands-on learning about science and recycling and will be held annually. WIFR
