- ➤ Since November 1, Rockford area food pantries have reported a surge in customers after the federal government halted SNAP food assistance payments, with the Salvation Army Food Pantry noting more local families seeking support. - ➤ Robert’s Armory World War II Museum—run by Chuck Roberts and his wife—displays World War II artifacts such as tanks and artillery and is open three times a year including Veterans Day. - ➤ Rockford’s Klehm Arboretum sundial offers striking autumn views with long shadows that highlight its design made of limestone, Corten steel and decorative gravel.
