- ➤ The Rockford region will honor community service with the Excalibur & Excelsior Awards ceremony on Dec. 11 at Prairie Street Brewing Co. The event will also recognize Community Champion award winners from Boone, Ogle, Winnebago and Stephenson counties. Rockford Register Star
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Hollywood medium Tyler Henry will give live readings and answer audience questions at Hard Rock Live for his event An Evening of Hope and Healing on Saturday, Apr. 18 – doors open at 7 p.m. and attendees must be 21 or older. WIFR
- ➤ Country singer Mitchell Tenpenny will perform on Friday, Feb. 6 (doors open at 7 p.m.) on Hard Rock Live next year. Tickets go on presale on Thursday, Dec. 11 (with code TRUTH) and on public sale on Dec. 12 for those 21 and older. WIFR

- ➤ Harlem School District is hosting three public hearings at Harlem High School auditorium to discuss a consolidation plan amid a $3.1 million deficit and declining enrollment — meetings run 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 and 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11. WIFR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Crews are starting water service repairs today in the 3500 block of Highcrest Road, which closes westbound traffic at Chelsea Avenue and may take one to three business days depending on weather. Drivers must use alternate routes and follow posted signs near the work zone. WIFR
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, Dec. 8, Santa and Mrs. Claus stopped at Rock River Valley Blood Center’s N. Longwood Street location to donate blood—Mrs. Claus marking her 100th donation. Blood units donated can save up to three lives. WIFR
