Good morning, Rockford.

On Oct 18, a large crowd gathered in downtown Rockford to join the 'No Kings' rally—one of over 2,700 organized across the U.S.

Hundreds gathered at Neighbors Bar + Grill to raise funds for Doc’s Diner after a fire forced the restaurant to close, and the event drew about 200 people who raised over $600 in a raffle.

The family plans to reopen the diner by late October or early November.

Rockford Public Schools partnered with Tricoci University of Beauty Culture to host a Day of Beauty and Empowerment on October 18 that offered young women and girls professional hair styling and lessons on self-esteem and entrepreneurship.

The event, part of the RPS 205 Sisters for Change and B.A.G.S. programs, will guide future efforts to boost confidence and skill-building in the community — setting a model for ongoing support.

More than a thousand people gathered downtown Rockford on Saturday for the 'No Kings' protest to demand accountability and defend democratic freedoms.

Organizers said it was their largest turnout yet — while a local senator argued that true change comes from government action.
